FBI surveillance transcript, Operation Broken Chain, February 23, 2027:
VALE: You still think there’s a difference between yourself and the Nexus?
This is a transmission from the year 2060 — sent back across time in the hope it might reach you before it’s too late.
Implicate Orders: A Future History is serialized speculative fiction — a history of how the world ended, was rebuilt, and became something else entirely. Beginning April 17th — and for 46 weeks total — a new chapter will be published every Thursday. Subscriptions are free.
“We must not forget that the writing of history — however dryly it is done and however sincere the desire for objectivity — remains literature. History’s third dimension is always fiction.”
— Hermann Hesse, The Glass Bead Game
You can begin reading at any point, but the Table of Contents collects all chapters in sequence. Start with the Preface if you want to walk the path step by step.
Between chapters, look for notes “from the archives” — brief artifacts from this future history posted in the Substack Notes of (follow him to see these notes; the present Ben Loomis posts about past history). These fragmentary glimpses and puzzle pieces provide additional context, character insights, and hints about what’s to come.
These archival notes are compiled weekly for paid subscribers (which costs $5 per year; see below), along with additional exclusive bonus content and extras.
Implicate Orders is currently free to read.
If you want to support the project and get access to the chat and weekly extras, a paid subscription is just $5 for a full year (and at 46 chapters, this book will be complete in less than a year).
Not ready for a paid subscription yet? You can still support the project by sharing it with anyone you think might enjoy it. Thanks in advance!
